JOHN R. KORMANIK is a founding partner of the Meridian law firm of KORMANIK HALLAM & SNEED LLP. His practice consists of all aspects of complex litigation, including criminal defense as well as matters concerning employment, personal injury, contractual relations, business, domestic relations, zoning and water law. John represents clients in both Federal and State courts as well as before various departments of the State of Idaho.
In 1998, John earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from California Western School of Law in San Diego, California. Prior to founding KORMANIK HALLAM & SNEED LLP, John served as a law clerk for the Honorable Darrel R. Perry of the Idaho Court of Appeals, as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of Idaho and as a shareholder with the White Peterson law firm. John is a member of the Idaho State Bar as well as the State Bar of California.
John is a member of, and past-Seminar Chairperson for, the Idaho Trial Lawyers Association (ITLA), as well as a member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ). John is also a member of the Idaho Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (IACDL) and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL). He is also a member of the District of Idaho Criminal Justice Act panel of attorneys and is assigned to represent criminal defendants in federal court. Finally, John is a member of the Professional Conduct Board of the Idaho State Bar.
Outside of the office, John has many interests, especially activities involving his family. Additionally, John is an avid athlete who completed the inaugural Ironman 70.3 (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run) race in Boise, Idaho, in June 2008, as well as several Olympic distance triathlons. John has also completed numerous marathons, the latest being the Top of Utah Marathon in Logan, Utah, on September 20, 2008. John successfully completed the 2009 Ironman Coeur d'Alene (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run) in a time of 15 hours and 32 minutes. He believes setting the goal of successfully completing and training for various sporting events allows him to develop the skills necessary to assist him in the vigorous representation of his clients while providing a proper work-life balance.
